The Lazy Perch, Another Great Catch!

Congratulations to The Lazy Perch, one of Michiana's newest additions to the fine dining community. After 6 years driving between Michigan City and New Buffalo down Rt12, an empty restaurant graced the side of road. For 6 years I hoped that there would be a restaurant would open. Between the building capturing the beach side flair, it also intrigued me as it was the first business on the Michigan border! Well it is NOW OPEN! Lazy Perch found a home!

Tonight Steve and I enjoyed a casual dining experience. The service was friendly, energetic, and knowledgeable about the offerings of Chef Cheryl Bernacchi. Owners Pat Kowalski and his wife Rhonda have many years in the business and it shows in their presentation. Knowing the area and the people has proven to be the perfect marriage of venue, food and atmosphere.

On to the food! We enjoyed a signature jalapeno popper stuffed with pimento cheese and bacon. FYI, when you place an order, you really only get "one" popper per order! While it was a large pepper it may cause a couple to fight over their share. But, it was worth fighting for. We also enjoyed a Lake Perch dinner with fingerling potatoes, which were to die for. Whatever you do, do not neglect the potatoes! The pork sandwich was quite unique. It was without a doubt the best pork sandwich ever! A think ground pork grilled and topped with sauerkraut.

We could not ignore the recommendation of Russell, Tres Leche cake was the perfect topper to a wonderful night. A highlight of the night was the conversation with some of the other patrons on the way out. Lazy Perch gets 5 stars for location, 4.5 stars for food, and am ArtSees Diner, "Third Place" award as The Lazy Perch represents exactly what every community needs, a community gathering place. We will be back!

Johnny V at Ryan's Irish Pub Every Tuesday Night

Wonderful opportunity to enjoy great music, fine food, drinks, neighborhood fun and community every Tuesday Night! Ryan's Irish Pub is a quaint, yet grand neighborhood hang out on the corner of Franklin St. and and restaurant in an old world structure that boasts the large neighborhood pubs of days gone by. Located on the corner of Franklin St. and 4th Ave., in the heart of Michigan City Indiana only a "stone's throw" from beautiful Washington Park and Lake Michigan. The large 3 story building is reportedly haunted as it has seen many a decade of travelers and the locals who will be the first to admit that there is something very special about Michigan City Indiana. Like Ryan's Irish Pub, another regular featured icon is Johnny V., also known as John Vermilye. Local musician, acoustic guitarist, singer/songwriter. Johnny's finger picking style guitar playing and broad vocal range will capture his listeners attention and hold on to it like he holds effortlessly on to his guitar. It doesn't matter whether he is covering Dylan, Beatles, or his originals, he is a passionate, professional! Every Tuesday night beginning at 7pm, cst, you can catch Johnny play you a song, while you enjoy quality pub food, and libations served by Scott the bartender and served up by the kind spirited Christine.
